Yes, on purpose. You get the first 2 lessons at every level — A1.1 through B2.2 — so you can feel the quality at your level, not a generic beginner level that doesn't apply to you. If you already know some French, start at A2 or B1. We want you to see exactly what you're getting before you pay a cent.
Not at all. The exam track is there when you need it, and invisible when you don't. The curriculum is built for real fluency — whether your deadline is a printed exam date or "by the time my kid starts school." Both kinds of learners pay the same price because they need the same thing: proper French, taught properly.
Start higher. The free tier lets you preview A2, B1, and B2 lessons directly. If the first 2 B1 lessons feel right, that's where to start on the paid tier. You're not forced to grind through beginner content you don't need.
It's included in your Fluent plan. You can ask questions in English or French, get explanations tailored to your level, and practice conversations — including spoken ones with voice. The tutor knows the curriculum, so it understands the context of wherever you are in your learning.
Fair-use limits apply to keep the service sustainable for everyone. Learners who want unlimited voice practice can enable Polyglot as an in-app upgrade whenever they need it.
Famille covers up to 4 learners in the same household on a single subscription. Each person gets their own account, their own progress, their own AI tutor quota — not a shared pool. You share billing, you don't share study sessions.

Yes. Monthly plans stop at the next billing date — no refund on the month you've already paid for, but nothing else gets charged. Annual plans can be refunded within 7 days of signup, and after that they simply don't renew if you turn off auto-renewal. No lock-ins, no retention departments, no phone calls.
Because splitting it would mean selling a "TEF-light" version, and we don't believe in that. Every serious learner gets the whole thing. If you end up needing the exam track six months in, it's already there. One tier. One price. No upsell maze.
